Description

Capsium is also called sweet pepper, belongs to species Capsium annum. There are many colors, but the most popular colors are green, red and yello. Capsium is less spicy or non-spicy. It grows most in China, Mexico and Indonesia. In Vietnam, capsicum grows most in cold weather areas, where the temperature range fluctuates significantly between day and night such as Da Lat City, Don Duong District, Duc Trong District,… Capsicum grows better in appropriate humidity and at right temperature.

Origin of Capsicum:

It was told that when Christopher Columbus discovered America, he was misunderstanding the fruits of chili with black pepper because the taste was also hot and spicy as black pepper, which was an most luxurious Indian-originated spices in Medieval Europe. Since then, chili was called “pepper”, to distinguish chili with black pepper, people usually call pepper with its color (e.g. green pepper or red pepper). The disappearance of Capcaicin in bell pepper dues to a recessive gene in the capsicum.
